Below, I explain how to make your own incense sticks:

We usually start by moistening the sandalwood powder with a few drops of water. The resulting paste should be sticky yet as little liquid as possible. You can add one or two drops of essential oil to personalize your incense. Next, use bamboo sticks to create the support for your incense. Bamboo skewers are commercially available and can be adapted for this purpose. You’ll need to reshape the bamboo stalks to make them as thin as possible. Then coat the bamboo with your mixture and leave to dry for a few days in a dry place. Allow seven days for your incense to dry thoroughly. After that, simply light your incense sticks and use them in the same way as commercially available incense sticks.
