In order to preserve the quality of our product and to maximize the transport costs, our flowers are delivered compressed, under vacuum, in a plastic food bag. We recommend that you open the package and let the flowers regain their volume before use. This operation is not mandatory and is only cosmetic.

Organic flowers, grown naturally.

Our flowers are always from the last harvest in order to keep their antioxidant properties at the highest level. It is a plant of the Fabaceae family that tends to be invasive and requires no treatment.

The price of the flowers is justified by the numerous manual operations like collecting, cleaning, drying (in the sun), sorting, etc.

We work in close collaboration with 2 family farms in northern Thailand. Both cultivate in a traditional and organic way the Clitoria Ternatea. None of our farms are able to provide organic certificates, but their cultivation is done without any pesticides, fertilizers or chemicals.

Uses and benefits of the blue butterfly pea flower.

The blue butterfly pea flower can be consumed as a tea or as a natural blue dye. These benefits consist in its concentration of antioxidants and vitamins. It is the anthocyanin molecule that gives it its special color.

The dosage is 3 to 5 flowers per mug or 10 to 20 flowers per liter of hot water. It can be eaten hot or cold.

Interesting color changes (purple and pink) are observed when the natural blue pigments are in contact with the acidity of lemon (for example).

Note: Vacuum packaging may suffer during the final stages of delivery. Don’t worry if the package contains air, it doesn’t affect the quality of the dried flowers.

Butterfly Pea Warning:

• Butterfly Pea flower has been consumed with no known side effects as a food coloring for a very long time in Asia. It is considered a traditional food and has been approved by the Thai FDA for use as a beverage and food coloring. In the USA, the FDA has cleared it as a food coloring and tolerates its use as a tea.
• In Europe, it is tolerated while still considered a novel product and is still under review by EFSA.
• Pregnant women: The consumption of ingestible Clitoria-Ternatea during pregnancy could lead to adverse effects. In the absence of sufficient hindsight and by safety measure, it is strongly disadvised to consume Butterfly-Pea this period.
• Overconsumption: in case of excessive consumption, it can happen that some people are prone to diarrhea. In this case, stop all consumption and if it persists, ask for the opinion of a doctor.
