1) A cast iron teapot must be prepared before being used for the first time. To do so, put a little tea (5 to 10 g) in the cast iron teapot and boil for about 10 minutes.
The tannins will create a film that will cover the inside of the teapot. This reaction between the iron and the tannin in the tea leaves is essential to eliminate odors and protect the teapot from rusting.

2) Drain the water after boiling. Repeat 2-3 times until the smell is gone.

3) Rinse with clear, warm water to avoid thermal shock. Rinse water should be clear before starting to use.

Maintenance: After each use, remember to empty the teapot. Let the teapot drain well on a rack. Remove the lid during storage so that the water remaining in the pores of the cast iron will evaporate slowly.
