How to recognize genuine Chinese porcelain?
Porcelain, invented by the Chinese, is a type of ceramic fired at very high temperatures. It is thanks to this firing that it gains its transparency. It is primarily this transparency that allows you to recognize porcelain originating from China.

A brief history of Chinese porcelain.
China is renowned for its long tradition of techniques and innovations in enamel work. It is the Yangshao culture, dating back about 4000 years BC, that first forged the great name of Chinese Ceramics.
The “blue and white” appeared under the Mongol Yuan dynasty. They fully developed during the Ming dynasty. Blue and white porcelain experienced a revival at the start of the Qing dynasty under Emperor Kangxi’s reign.
Preparation and ceremony of Chinese tea.
The preparation is done respecting the Chinese tea ceremony “Gong Fu Cha”.
1) Water should be preheated in a cast iron teapot. Available HERE
2) In the Gaiwan, briefly rinse the tea leaves with a small amount of water just off the heat. Discard this first infusion.
3) When the water reaches the right temperature, pour again over the tea leaves filling the Gaiwan. Monitor the infusion until the desired strength is reached.
4) Using the Gaiwan lid, filter the leaves and pour the infusion into the teapot.
5) Taste a small amount of tea in a cup; if it meets your expectations, serve starting with the oldest guests.
Note on tea trays:
Tea preparation is normally done on a tea tray (available HERE). In this case, rinse the tea leaves, teapot, and cups.
Rinsing tea utensils serves to clean but especially to warm the porcelain. This way, the ideal temperature is maintained longer.
All rinse water is usually poured onto the tray, which has a draining drawer to collect liquids.
