A Chinese Tea Tray, of Japanese inspiration.

As tradition dictates, it is customary to sprinkle your Gaiwan or teapot with your hot water to maintain the temperature of the teapot. This tea tray will also be used for rinsing the cups, leaves and preparing the tea infusion in the teapot.

This tea draining tray is traditionally made in Hu-Dian in Fujian. The texture of this ceramic is called “Wanhua”, because the appearance is matte, shiny, rough and soft to the touch. This quality of ceramic is fired in a kiln that voluntarily exposes the clay to flames. It is a very high temperature cooking at over 1300 degrees Celsius. It is a beautiful tea accessory that will take its place during the Gong-Fu-Cha ceremony.
