Recipe for hibiscus or roselle infusion.
- 2 Lites of water.
- 20 flowers of hibiscus or Guinea sorrel.
- 1 to 2 stevia leaves or 30 g of brown sugar or honey.
- A piece of ginger 5 to 7 cm peeled. Crush a cutting board with a sharp blow of a rolling pin on your ginger.
It is a very simple preparation by decoction. You can dress it up however you like, but here’s my favorite way to use my iced hibiscus tea.
- The tea or Infusion of hibiscus is prepared in decoction. Bring the water to the boil, then bring the temperature down to around 95°C just before boiling. (the little bubbles on the sides of the pan)
- Put your flowers, stevia leaf and ginger in the water. Turned from time to time to wet the flowers which sometimes have difficulty to flow. Maintain a low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Turn off the gas and let the infusion rest with a lid, so that the aromas do not escape.
- Strain with a sieve, if you have not put Stevia, it is time to sweeten with honey your infusion to your taste.
- Add lemon juice if you prefer to add acidity.
Then you can eat it warm or put it in the refrigerator for more than four hours. It is recommended to drink the equivalent of one to three cups per day.
Note: You can make your own tea with only the flowers of Roselle as tea. Nevertheless, stevia will sweeten naturally and without calories while ginger will bring its power and vigor.
